December performance at First Lutheran Church

Cantate Carlisle will add their voices to the December concert of the Central Pennsylvania Symphony under the baton of conductor Cheung Chao. Fine Arts at First will feature the two area ensembles on Sunday, December 11th at 3 PM. The lovely First Evangelical Lutheran Church sanctuary will provide a reverent setting for the performance of Mack Wilberg’s four carols for choir and orchestra. Spring Concert

The Carlisle Theatre stage will showcase the spring performances of Cantate Carlisle and young persons’ ensemble Cantate cum Spiritum! What more appropriate place could there be for a concert featuring Choral Music for the Stage? Audiences can look forward to accessible and entertaining opera choruses of Verdi, Wagner, Tchaikovsky, Bizet and Humperdinck. Pursuing a lighter vein, the singers will perform several numbers from Gilbert and Sullivan operettas The Pirates of Penzance, Trial by Jury, and The Gondoliers. Broadway will be equally represented with creative arrangements of show tunes old and new. Some shows represented include Oliver!, Peter Pan, Bye Bye Birdie, Porgy and Bess, Anything Goes, Gypsy, Les Mis, and Wicked. The ensembles will be accompanied by Arthur Thompson on piano, Mark Alexander-Gray on trap set, and Allen Roth on bass.
