Cantate Carlisle singers and their accompanist, Arthur Thompson,  traveled to Canada June 22nd through July 1st, visiting Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City, and the Eastern Townships.

They  performed at the Cathédrale Notre-Dame, the seat of the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Ottawa and a national historic site.  Their second concert was part of the Loto-Québec World Choral Festival in Montreal, the largest national and international gathering of choirs in all of North America.  A third, informal, performance was given in the Église Notre-Dame-des-Victoires, a small historic church in the middle of the Place Royale in Old Québec.  Finally, the singers were hosted in the town of Eastman in the Eastern Townships at St. Eduoard Catholic Church through special arrangement with our Cantate friend, composer Donald Patriquin.

This was the ensemble’s third international concert tour, having previously traveled to Scotland and England in 2001 and to Hungary, Austria, and the Czech Republic in 2005.  The Cantate Carlisle performers have found sharing music to be a delightful way to learn about other cultures and to meet new friends.

This fall we are busily engaged in preparation of our December concert, which features the work of Dale Warland.  Mr. Warland founded and directed the Dale Warland Singers, one of the finest professional choirs in the country, and in this capacity composed, commissioned, and arranged a great deal of music.  We will perform a number of these pieces, as well as the world premiere of a work commissioned by Cantate Carlisle for this, our 20th anniversary season.   Further information on our fall concert can be found at this link.
